Personal effort Minister Verhagen leads to agreement

VanDrie Group is pleased with the promise of the Minister of Agriculture of Oman that the veterinary health certificate will be available soon. This certificate is necessary for VanDrie Group to export veal to Oman. The promise is personally given by the Minister of Agriculture of Oman to Henny Swinkels (Director Corporate Affairs). On behalf of VanDrie Group, world market leader in veal, Henny Swinkels is one of participants of the economic mission to several Gulf states. This mission is a part of the official state visit of her Royal Highness Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands that is currently taking place in the Gulf region. The personal effort of Minister Verhagen of the Ministry of Economics, Agriculture and Innovation has led that also in Oman an agreement is reached about the contents of the veterinary health certificate.

Last Tuesday the Dutch business community, under the leadership of VNO-NCW chairman Bernard Wientjes, spoke in a round table conference with governors from the government and the business community of Oman. When VanDrie Group holds the official health certificate, the import of veal from The Netherlands to Oman will be possible again. The Dutch family business VanDrie Group guarantees food safety, food quality and animal welfare through the whole chain with its own quality system Safety Guard. Partly due to the guarantees issued by the Safety Guard it will be possible for the Omani Government to hand out the health certificate in the near future.
According VanDrie Group there are plenty of opportunities in this new market for its products.

More than 15 years ago, the Gulf states closed their border for Dutch veal caused by the mad cow disease. In 2010 it was decided to decontrol the import ban. On the conditions that with every Gulf State separate agreements are made about the content of the required veterinary health certificate. With Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait these agreements are already made. VanDrie Group thinks that also Qatar will hand out the health certificate in a very short term.
